Vacation!!!
Ok- well this is pretty much the closest thing I'm going to get to a vacation anytime before Christmas I'm afraid. I'm off all this week since I don't start the new job until next Tuesday, after the long weekend.
This weekend went kinda sideways- we weren't home for most of it. It was fun- but having just come off of a high-stress job, some really serious downtime would have been nice too. Oh well- luckily I plan on investing a lot of energy into that this week- starting tomorrow afternoon.
Unfortunately my morning is going to seem relatively typical. I'm still getting up to drive Ange to work in the morning, and then I have a doctor's appointment at 10:00am. Lovely. But come 1:00pm-ish I'm hoping to be enjoying the balcony and maybe even catching a mid-afternoon nap. Of course the weather plays a role- and today was quite cool and miserable, so I'm somewhat expecting more of the same tomorrow. Oh well.
We did accomplish one relatively large task this weekend- the winter horde of bottles that literally consumed about half our balcony is not more- thanks to my brother, Badfrek, who helped us haul all 19 garbage bags to the local recycling depot. We then decided to continue setting up the balcony by completely wiping it down (I still need to mop it) and buying a new cover for the futon cover- trademark red. hehe. The result is a summer-ready balcony that is ready to be extensively used by both Ange and I over the coming months.
This week is going to be very relaxing I'm hoping. Despite going out tomorrow morning, as I say, I foresee an afternoon of lounging around and maybe getting a few things done around the apartment. Tuesday I am tentatively thinking of engaging on an 'urban adventure' around Calgary- complete with photoblog of course. :)
Essentially, I'll 'tour' the city- hit some of my favorite spots downtown, maybe even ride the C-Train from one end of the city to the other- just for fun.
Thursday afternoon Ange and I are heading out to the cabin at Invermere for the long weekend- along with Rob & Kris, Dan & Steph. Should be a lot of good times- and a lot of relaxing, and maybe even a hike or two.
It does feel odd knowing I don't work all week- and that when I do go back to work, it's somewhere completely different. Kinda feels like going from Jr. High School to Sr. High School in a way. Oh well- I have an entire week to prepare myself to what's coming. Should be a wonderful week and weekend ahead!
