Making Progress...
After wresting with various libraries all night and for most of today- I finally have everything I need to run Cedega 6.0 on 'BlackFlame Hydra'.
Between compiling libraries- and their dependencies, such as cairo, pango, glib, gtk+ 2, glade3, Python 2.5, I've finally been able to put the pieces of the puzzle together, and nearly fell off my chair when Cedega loaded without error!
The best part? After Cedega loaded, I immediately went to the System Tests- one of the only tools I've been able to use that accurately tells me whether my video hardware is setup and configured properly. The problem I've encountered recently is that 3D acceleration hasn't been enabled when running in dual-screen mode- which I have been since Christmas. As a result- I have been unable to play any games under Linux that require 3D acceleration. I was hoping that this new version of Cedega would help resolve those problems, either that- or the new ATI fglrx video driver, or perhaps a kernel upgrade.
So in running the video test in Cedega 6, I hoped that the problem would be resolved, but really wasn't expecting it. So imagine my surprise when I got the results of the text:
Now, in all fairness, I am logged in a root, so my user account might have different results, but this is definitely a positive step forward!
The battle continues....
