My NES & SNES are actually still hooked up and in working condition! (Well, my SNES is, the NES hasn't been used in a long time and the last time I tried to power it up- it sat there and did nothing. I'm officially in denial that it's dead) But I'd love to be able to play any of those classic games on the road with the DS. Must. Play. StarTropics. Soon.
Hooray, I'm not the only one with the NES and SNES hooked up to the tv
right now. I can see the appeal of having the games to go, but I still
like playing them on the big screen. Couldn't live without the Game
Boy Player...just wish I could play the DS on the tv too.
Thanks for the links- ya I know there are emulators for the DS for various systems (a PS1 or a MAME/Arcade emulator would be bliss). My problem is I need to just bite the bullet and buy a card that will allow me to run them. I've just been cheap. Found one the other day that looked very promising- can't remember for the life of me what it was called though. Dammit. :(
I hear ya- there's still part of me that holds out that Nintendo will feature this capability on the Wii in the future. I know you can already use the DS as a 'controller' for certain games on the Wii- but being able to send the output data to the Wii as part of the 'Virtual Console' would simply kick ass.
Another Idea..because the DS plays GameboyAdvanced games...the PocketNES emulator plays NES on the Gameboy advanced...if you get the pocketNES on a GBA flash card...just a gamble..but I betcha it might work on the DS...hmmmmmm....I may have to stop being a cheap bastard and go out and but a flash card myself
I've thought of that too- although I'd prefer to use the DS and not the GBA. I've heard that running under GBA 'mode' disables some of the buttons on the controller. Dunno if that's true or not.
HAHA! I found the card that I read about last week! I seriously scoured all my browser history, my bookmarks, even my cache- all to no avail, then I found it from some obscure google search. Amazing. Anyways, this is the one I'm seriously considering picking up: the CycloDS.
