Capitalist Pigs
"GM Exec: Automakers likely will be back for more" (CNN)
Merrill Lynch CEO requests $10 Million Bonus- says he 'deserves' it. (CNN)
Behold! Capitalism as it's finest!
Have I mentioned I've been working for FREE since October trying to get a business of my own off the ground with NO start-up capital, grants or "bail-out money". Because sometimes- that's just what ya gotta do. But I wouldn't expect anyone whose lifestyle is built on greed to understand that.
These people are downright pathetic. IMO their companies deserve to be in the crisis they're in and it's obvious they aren't learning a single thing from it.
To GM: Here's an idea: INNOVATE! Don't just throw the term around your boardrooms because it's the 'term of the month' and then claim to be doing it, or that it's on the "to do list". FUCKING DO IT!!! The 'Volt' looks like a promising idea- except that it still suffers horribly from the fact that it looks like a goddamn 'Chevy'. Take a look at the current state of the videogame industry (yeah, those things that "kids" supposedly play- BTW, I'm 30 you ignorant clods)- there's proof that the "best" technology doesn't mean a fucking thing unless people are inspired by it and WANT to use it.
To Merrill Lynch: NO ONE "deserves" a $10 MILLION bonus. Few people "deserve" a $10 Million SALARY. So unless you're using that "bonus" to distribute to the grunt workers you employ in your organization that were actually responsible for keeping the company's loss to a "mere" $11 Billion- who actually were on the front-lines dealing with the bullshit that has gone in in recent months- then there is, as the CNN article states, simply NO WAY to justify "deserving" a bonus of $10 Million- which, let's face it, will ultimately come from the bailout money (ie: TAX PAYERS MONEY) anyways.

Our system here is a little different than yours- though I've really begun to understand and appreciate yours in recent years. Ours is modeled after the UK- we have a Prime Minister, who is elected internally by the party, and we simply elect MP's, or Members of Parliament. Our election was in October- and it changed almost nothing. Since then, the Government has been on the verge of collapse. Most recently opposition parties (Liberals, New Democrats & Bloc Quebecois) have agreed to form a "coalition government" and effectively overthrow the minority Conservative Government. It's complicated and I won't get into it in much detail- but it's a huge political upheaval around here. Calgary is practically Conservative central (the neighborhood we're moving to, and that I'm currently "working" in is in the middle of the Prime Ministers' riding)- so while I'm welcoming this coalition government, almost everyone around me is extremely against it.Oh yeah- tension time is back again! w00t!
